Firſt, from the succeſſion of Robert Stewart, to the excluſion of the deſcendents of John Baliol, who had the preferable right. Secondly, from the sucession of Robert Stewart, contrary to the juſt claim of William Earl of Douglas. The second part demonſtrates, that the right of our kings to the crown of Scotland was not ſtrictly and aboſolutely hereditary, from the succeſſion of Robert III. who was begotten out of lawful marriage
