内容説明
An oriori is a chant, song or lullaby composed for young children by their parents or extended family. It tells of the child's origins and is intended to honour the child and encourage it to continue on its path in life. Striking visual imagery in the form of 20 paintings by Robyn Kahukiwa are accompanied by Roma Potiki's text which explores related ideas and emotions. Robyn Kahukiwa is one of New Zealand's best known and most respected artists. She has exhibited widely in New Zealand and overseas to great acclaim. Her powerful artwork has illustrated a variety of books for both adults and children, many of which have gained awards. Roma Potiki is one of New Zealand's most exciting poets. Her work appears in many anthologies. Both lyrical and challenging, her writing captures much of what it means to be a Maori woman in the modern world.
