内容説明
Born in South Africa in 1932, Athol Fugard has an international reputation as a playwright, director and actor. He first came to world attention with his play The Blood Knot written in 1962, originally performed by Fugard himself with Zakes Mokae, and his work continues to be widely performed in Britain, the US and Europe. New play from best-selling playwright and author, timed to coincide with production at the National Theatre. Playland is a powerful allegory about the situation in South Africa. The confrontation between the protagonists is set in a travelling amusement park encamped on the outskirts of a town in Fugard's beloved Karoo. New Year's Eve 1989: the meeting of a young white returnee from the border and a black night-watchman leads to a situation in which they work through their differences and a shared nightmare towards reconciliation and the hope of peace. "With Playland, Fugard has fashioned a tale about repentance, forgiveness and reconciliation at a time when Sough Africa and the World desperately need to consider these things.
Fugard gives us another of his parables about people finding a new understanding and appreciation of each other in a world that holds more than just our individual catastrophes, hurts, regrets and sadness: in a world where God is alive." Mannie Manim (Producer)
