This is an annotated translation of what is perhaps the most important Ottoman literary source for the architectural monuments and urban form of the Ottoman capital, Istanbul: Hafiz Huseyin bin Ismail Ayvansarayi's Hadikat al-Cevami (The Garden of Mosques).
