内容説明
Brian Grant offers another extremely original, fascinating, and important work. The book provides not only one of the most sustained attempts in contemporary epistemology to take global scepticism seriously, but does so by offering a fascinating and spirited defence of the view based upon what Grant refers to as a "truly mind-boggling but almost universally neglected" argument of Humes in the Treatise. Grants focus centres round Humes argument and the challenge it represents. The various discussions of the anti-sceptical positions and the strategies they employ are focused through the lens of this challenge. The result is a captivating discussion of a very old problem from a truly novel point of view. The book provides a useful background resource that is accessible enough to be suitable for introductory undergraduate courses, yet sophisticated and rich enough for upper level graduate courses.
