This is a guide to ferns and tree ferns suitable for growing in milder-climate gardens. Introductory chapters describe the structure and life cycle of ferns and give information on cultivation and care, pests and diseases and propagation. A chapter on landscaping with ferns offers suggestions for using these plants in the garden, and includes useful lists of ferns with notable atttributes as well as discussion of suitable companion plants. An alphabetical listing of fern species constitutes the main part of the book. Each species is described in detail, and information is given on its natural distribution, cultural requirements and uses in the garden.
