内容説明

The brain function of patients with neurological diseases can be dynamically asessed using many advanced techniques. Examples are: positron emission tomography (PET); nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR); and autoradiographic analysis of transport, metabolism and receptor binding. This book discusses new techniques from the clinician's point of view, and provides the background needed to understand the rapid advances in the field of brain metabolism. Rather than provide an exhaustive account of each of these topics, the book focuses on explaining how these techniques are used in assessing neurological disorders of metabolism.

目次

  • Fluids, circulation, and metabolism: an overview
  • Anatomy of the brain interface
  • Physiology of cerebrospinal and interstitial fluids
  • Mathematics of transport
  • Radioisotopes in metabolic studies
  • Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy
  • Glucose, amino acids, and lipids
  • Hypoxia-Ischemia
