Although the merchant ship "Earl of Pembroke" was surveyed by the Royal Navy during her conversion to the exploration ship "Endeavour", the recent replica built in Australia revealed that many of the details were at best obscure and in many cases completely undocumented. This book is based on much new research designed to throw light on these grey areas, and in some aspects differs from all previous reconstructions of the ship. It follows the usual pattern of the "Conway's Anatomy of the Ship" series format, with numerous line drawings. Karl Heinz Marquardt is the author of "Eighteenth Century Rigs and Rigging".
