Description
This booklet follows up the Department of the Environment's earlier publication "Policy Appraisal and the Environment: A Guide for Government Departments" (HMSO 1991). That Guide helped policy makers understand why they needed to carry out environmental appraisals; this new booklet illustrates how some of them put the advice into practice. Brief summaries of a wide selection of government studies are included to cover air, land and water and the principal industries: agriculture, construction, energy, manufacturing and transport.
