Description and Table of Contents

Description

Payne's translation of Compayre's The History of Pedagogy was initially published in 1886 due to a general lack of historical texts on education in the late nineteenth century. Compayre provides a thorough account of the doctrines and methods used by educators throughout history from educators of antiquity to the early nineteenth century. This text focusses on key thinkers and teachers such as Locke, Luther and Kant as well as considering the educational methods of the Greeks and the Romans. This title will be of interest to students of Education and Philosophy.
