This is a portrait of country barns and their function, from the medieval structures which survive in Britain and Europe to a 200-year-old tradition in the New World. The Photographs are accompanied by the text of two practitioners in the art and craft of barn restoration. History, architecture heritage and ancient and contemporary construction methods are covered, whilst the final section of the book looks at successful and sympathetic conversions of old barns as homes.
