Description and Table of Contents

Description

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second World War the Central Statistical Office have reprinted tables from the 1951 publication Statistical Digest of War and added new text, photographs and charts. Retitled Fighting With Figures this new publication provides the main statistical series illustrating the war effort of the United Kingdom. Anthony Montague Brown, Churchill's Private Secretary from 1952 to 1965, has written the foreword, and text for each chapter has been provided by Dr Peter Howlett from the London School of Economics. Fighting With Figures provides a definitive economic and social reference for Britain and its society during the traumatic years of the Second World War.
