Description
The book is ostensibly a study of the development of the pro-rationing system in Texas in the 1930's, but the Author's concern is with importance of ideology in the development of American economic policy. The book is centered on the conflict between the greatest industry of 20th century American capitalism and what I consider the essential American economic ideology, and how populist symbolism was used to subvert populist goals.
