内容説明

The word `music' is regularly used in literary analyses of the Bronte sisters' writings, particularly as regards its rhythmic structure or metre. It is known that music played an important and enjoyable role in the siblings' lives, but did this enjoyment of music have any effect on their creative input? Emily was beyond doubt, the most musically accomplished of the surviving Bronte children, and Part One of this book assesses her knowledge and love of music, the part it played in her life, and the influence it might have had upon her literary creativity. Part Two contains an analysis or description of every single music score known to have been owned by the Bronte family. John Hennessy is a pianist and harpsichordist who has written `An Analysis of the Beethoven Piano Sonatas', and presented recitals and talks at Haworth.
