Description
This work contains text by Hans-Werner Schmidt, and Rudi Fuchs. This title features Peter Doig's early work, published here for the first time, which provides an important insight into his development and unique position within contemporary painting. Many of the works published here are documents of a journey through the United States which the 23 year old Doig undertook in the summer of 1982. His motifs, which appear like a kaleidoscope of Western, Roadmovie and Metropolis themes, executed in various techniques that range from oil painting on canvas to collage techniques on paper, document in anecdotes and stories how the young figurative painter Doig searches for his 'material' - and finds it. It contains English and German text.
