Summary: "Friends, relatives, colleagues and acquaintances make up a person's entourage, a personal network. This network is always evolving. In the life course, some relationships disappear, others emerge in different contexts, some assert themselves, connect or dissociate from each other. The evolution of this relational system is linked to social situations and life events. It opens access to different environments by drawing a system of constraints, resources and influence. The sociology of relational dynamics proposed here explores this "intermediate level" of comprehension of the social world, by linking the dimensions of individuals, social circles and organizations. Drawing on two original surveys and the findings of a large literature, this book explores the dynamics of personal networks in the different phases of the life course"-- Provided by publisher
