Description and Table of Contents
Description
The main author, Claudia Ross, has learned Chinese as a second language herself and understands the difficulties non-native speakers face. The volumes in this series are unique for the pedagogical perspectives and techniques they use in terms of teaching Chinese students whose native language is English.
Presents a principled and pedagogically purposeful use of pinyin. The unique approach to character retention involves the support but gradual elimination of pinyin. Most textbooks provide pinyin and characters together throughout. Studies have shown that if pinyin is presented students continue using pinyin as a crutch. This course supports students through the transition beyond the reliance on pinyin to authentic reading of characters.
A simple structure with just one textbook and one workbook for each level with free access to the companion website.
