内容説明

The end of each period heralds a new one, a thought often expressed in ancient literature, and most cloquently in Vergilis famous lines Ultima Aetas discusses the views, literary, linguistic and historical, of the concept of time in the ancient Greco-Roman and Judaeo-Christian world. This new book makes use of many sources including profane and early Christian literature, Greek and Latin linguistics, and ancient (religious) history. Concentrating on the theme of time, and especially the end of time, the papers in the book illustrate not only where cultures and ages differ, but also where they meet.
