内容説明

The grand opening of Tokyo DisneySea was held in September 2001, with its backdrop the waters of Tokyo Bay. It is the first Disney Park in the world to focus on the myths and legends of the sea. (It is adjacent to the first Disney Park built in Japan, Tokyo Disneyland.) Also opening in 2001 was Universal Studios Japan, which is located in Osaka, the largest city in western Japan. In 2002, Japan will co-host with Korea the first finals in Soccer World Cup history ever held in Asia. What is billed as the "world's biggest sporting event" is expected to draw nearly a half a million spectators to Japan. The John Lennon Museum opened on October 9, 2000, in Saitama, commemorating "John's life through Yoko's eyes," with photographs, personal memorabilia, and the like. The Osaka Aquarium is the world's largest aquarium and is home to two whale sharks, the world's largest fish, which swim about in the aquarium's huge 9-meter-deep tank. In 2000, Osaka Bay welcomed the Osaka Maritime Museum. The museum's centerpiece is a huge bubble-like dome set in the midst of a marine lake. The tubular steel lattice structure is designed to withstand earthquakes and tsunamis, for which the bay is at risk. Some 400,000 people climb Japan's tallest and most famous mountain, Mount Fuji, annually. This travel guide contains all these attractions and more.
