Description
Beyond the Image is a fascinating photo documentation about human beings. It is the essence of an extensive project in which Tom Fahrmann photographed almost 100 people of different ages in identical circumstances: without clothes or make-up, and with only a simple chair for moral support. Seventy-six brilliant black-and-white photographs of relentless intensity are documenting an attempt to strip people of their social and professional camouflage, to penetrate beyond their sense of self-image. Beyond the Image rejects conventional approaches to nude photography and stylised beauty, and endeavours to capture the bare truth. Text in English and German.
