Description

Experimental and analytical studies have both involved soil-structure interaction. Experimental studies offer an opportunity to directly observe the complex phenomena, while analytical studies offer a logistic consideration on the physical insight into behaviour and rational analysis methods. In these studies, however, there are many limitations, as well as merits. In recent years, much progress has been made in the area concerning dynamic soil-structure interaction. The objective of this session was to discuss physical and numerical modelling in dealing with dynamic soil-structure interaction, in the light of recent developments. This proceedings of the session contains the papers on soil-structure interaction issues in centrifuge tests, shake table tests, full-scale tests, liquefaction and analytical aspects.
