内容説明
This title provides a lavishly illustrated look at Federico Diaz's latest groundbreaking digital sculpture. This superbly illustrated volume explores the new site-specific sculpture by artist Federico Diaz created from 420,000 black spheres precisely milled and assembled by robotic machines, and entirely untouched by human hands. The spheres represent voxels (volumetric picture elements) which were in turn derived from a digital photograph of the museum's entry courtyard using sophisticated software. These voxels were then subjected to fluid dynamic simulations, decomposing the original structure of the image and converting it into fragments. The digital files were then output to a computer-controlled robotic manufacturing device, which systematically assembled the 50-feet long by 20-feet high sculpture - Geometric Death Frequency - 141 - which now fills Massachusetts MoCA's entrance courtyard.
