Description

Engineering educators face varied and difficult challenges providing quality instruction to their students. Effectively conveying an expanding knowledge base into programs that have ever-diminishing credit hours is just one example of the challenges facing the academic profession in general and civil engineering education specifically. In order to meet these challenges educators of tomorrow must be armed with the newest advances in teaching technology and pedagogy. This proceeding provides the latest innovations in geotechnical engineering education. Special emphasis is placed on the incorporation of newer technologies into geotechnical engineering classes such as the integration of multimedia courseware and virtual laboratories as well as innovative applications of traditional concepts like design integration and experiential preparation. Issues relating to pedagogy and the early attraction of students to the engineering profession are interspersed throughout the proceeding.
