Summary: "Volume II is a glossary designed to aid in understanding the Record of the Transmission of Illumination. Part One of the glossary explains all of the broader Buddhist and specifically Zen technical terms that appear in the Denkōroku. It also gives the full contexts, in the original Chinese and in English translation, of all the passages (including many kōan) from external Chan (Zen) texts that are quoted or alluded to in the Denkōroku.
