Description and Table of Contents

Description

A report on archaeological investigations at the site of Wardy Hill which occupied a prominent spur on the north side of the Isle of Ely in the Iron Age. The report outlines the evidence for pre-Iron Age use of the site and focuses in particular on the Middle-Late Iron Age ringwork excavated in 1991-2. Data related to the environmental setting of this site, economic and land-use practices, as well as material culture finds (pottery, metalworking debris, worked stone, beads and spindle whorls, worked bone, and so on) are presented and interpreted in terms of the occupation sequence and activities at the site. Summaries in English, French and German.
