内容説明

1. The book examines how the modification or destruction of monuments and memorials can be viewed as performative acts that question the political power configured in public space. 2. Bringing together global, multidisciplinary approaches, the chapters in this volume interrogate the ways in which public space has the capacity to shape public memory and politics. The book will thus be essential reading for scholars and students studying cultural heritage, history, art history and public history. 3. There are currently no other edited collections that address the statue debates of the last few years.
