内容説明

The International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg, involving the trial of Nazi leaders and war criminals, encompassed the deaths of millions, the pillage of a continent, and the violation of all standards of humanity. It also raised fundamental issues of the rules of law - issues which are still debated today. Drawing on a multiplicity of sources, including extensive interviews with surviving participants, this book sets out to recreate the atmosphere and tensions of Nuremberg. Whether in the courtroom itself, behind the scenes in the defendants' jail, or in the judges' rooms, the horror, bathos, black humour and dramatic clashes of personality are portrayed in a work which is aimed at the general reader and the historian alike.
