Description

Who cares about the carer? Although the importance of the carer has been widely acknowledged in recent years, many have received little or no practical assistance and continue to struggle to look after their elderly or disabled relatives. Some local authorities are seeking to rectify this situation by making practical support for carers a high priority. This book is for them. It provides care managers with general information to help them make sound judgements about arranging the best package of support for individuals and their carers. The research programme on which this book is based is outlined in another Department of Health publication, "Carer Support in the Community".

Table of Contents
