Description
A book which sets a wide agenda for community health managers in the context of recent legislation and the "crisis in health". It introduces topics of management and commissioning based on concerns such as the limitations of a biomedical approach, changes in the health profile of an ageing population and inequalities in health and resource constraints. Highlighting value questions where managers, clinicians and lay people adopt different perspectives and where gender inequalities have a deep impact, it develops a way forward, informed by the "new" public health which puts a community oriented approach at the centre of the formal health services.
