Summary: In 2002 Mahathir bin Mohamad initiated a policy for Malaysia that science and math would be taught in English beginning in 2003, the policy was overturned in 2009. This book discusses scientific and mathematical terminology in the old Malay inscriptions found throughout Southeast Asia and what this tells us about the value of the Malay language as a language for science education. Shaharir's responses to Mahathir's claims in justification of his 2002 policy are set forth in the appendices
