Description and Table of Contents
Description
With the explosive growth of the technical literature worldwide, it is important for the modern engineer or applied scientist to be able to keep abreast of scientific advances without having to spend an inordinate amount of time and effort locating the pertinent literature and digesting it into a usable form. It is the prime objective of this series, now continued by Elsevier Science Publishers, to present authoritative, critical and timely reviews of both fundamental and applied topics in fluid mechanics, and heat and mass transfer, so that the reader can gain an understanding of the present status with minimal expenditure of time and effort. The subject matter covered by the series is interdisciplinary in nature and will serve the needs of the practising engineer as well as the academic or industrial researcher. The series also has a cross-disciplinary objective, so that advances made in one discipline can be readily assimilated and used by researchers in other disciplines; many seemingly diverse problems have a common scientific or engineering basis at the fundamental level.
The series should be of interest to engineers and scientists engaged in disciplines ranging from chemical, mechanical, electrochemical, biochemical, biological, materials and metallurgical research to applied mathematics, civil and aerospace engineering.
