内容説明
Phytomass is the most important organic raw material available to man. This book reviews the formation, composition and structure of phytomass, concentrating mainly on higher lignified plants. The authors look at current and future trends in the ways in which this important material can be used and describe existing technologies which convert phytomass as a whole mass after fractionation of the individual components. The basic technology of monomeric product, in particular the hydrolysis of polysaccharides is discussed in depth, together with the important process of the degradation of low weight components. The authors review ways of utilizing extracts by substituting hemicelluloses and lignins for the more traditional chemical and biochemical products. Phytomass is not just a source of food and energy, it is also of vital importance in pulp and paper production; is used as feedstock and utilized in various ways in chemical and biotechnological industries.
