LIVES ON THE LINE examines women's issues in Butaritari, an equatorial Pacific atoll 15 kilometers long and a few hundred meters wide. This case study shows how the constraints of ecology and teh contingencies of history weave through patterns of human activity on Butaritari Atoll.
