ウサギさんが小さな椅子を作ります。「どうぞのいす」という立て札を一緒に立てておいたところ、やってきたロバさんは、椅子の上に持っていたどんぐりを置いて一休み、気持ちよくて眠ってしまいます。そこへクマさん、キツネさん、リスさんと動物たちが次々とやってきて、「どうぞならば」と椅子の上にあるものを全部食べてしまいます。でもその度に、代わりに持っていたものを次々と置いていきました。ロバさんが目を覚ましたとき、椅子の上にあったのは…。思いやりの心を育む、優しさに満ちた絵本です。
