Tarikh-i-akbari also known as Muzaffar nama, the first chronicle of Emporor Akbar,s reign is an important source of information on the sixteen century history of India particularly the formative years of his career. This book is compiled by Mohammad Arif Qandhari at the behest of Muzaffar Khan when completed was presented to the khan who conferred a Khila on him. Arif worked under Bairam Khan and and Muzaffar Khan. He later was appointed the diwan of the sakar of Punjab. Unpretentious narration as the book is, it shines not because of the ornamental artificiality of Arif, but because of the greatness of its subject.
