Abstract

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>Iodine is used to promote the condensation of 2-aminothiophenol with aldehydes in DMF, which affords corresponding 2-substituted benzothiazoles efficiently. Mild and manipulable procedure, use of available and less toxic oxidant, and shorter reaction times are the advantageous features of this method.</jats:p>
