Shoji OHHATA, born in 1913 in Shimane Prefecture, graduated from Yokohama Engineering College in 1934. He was the student of the famous architect and educator Junpei NAKAMURA. After his graduation, he worked as an architect in the architecture section, construction works office and Local Administration Department of the Dalian Manchurian Railway Company. He returned to Japan after the Second World War. He made great contributions by reviving buildings of Hiroshima City and by making a small design institute in Hiroshima as his base.
