Abstract

Performance and flow field of the centrifugal pump, whose type number is 0.244, are analyzed by both experimental and numerical methods. A circular casing with the very small radius shows the high head and efficiency as that of spiral casing. CFD results on the circular casing case show that the flow from the impeller goes out through only the small area near the tongue, even at the best performance status. Also, there is very strong unsteadiness in the flow. These flow field is very different from that of ordinary spiral casing.
