内容説明
In 1939 George Harrison published his classic "Wavelength Tables" "with intensities in arc, spark, or discharge tube of more than 100,000 spectrum lines most strongly emitted by the atomic elements under normal conditions of excitation between 10,000 A. and 2000 A. arranged in order of decreasing wavelengths." The book's major strengths were the comprehensiveness of its coverage and the consistency of the conditions under which measurements were taken. A corrected edition published in 1969 is still available from The MIT Press. The second volume of "M.I.T. Wavelength Tables" presents a rearrangement of Harrison's spectrum lines by element rather than by wavelength. It also includes wavelengths in vacuum and corresponding wavenumbers, which are important for theoretical studies. This reference work will be useful to analytical chemists, atomic spectroscopists, astronomers, and other researchers and students who need accessible and comprehensive summaries of lines emitted by a given element.Frederick M. Phelps III is an associate professor in the Department of Physics at Central Michigan University.
