Description and Table of Contents

Description

The extension of differential calculus to unnormed function spaces has been tried in a number of different ways by different writers, without any agreement being reached. Here, Frolicher and Kriegl propose a new theory which is a striking improvement on previous theories, both in its simplicity and in its applications to other branches of mathematics. The authors' emphasis is on the usefulness of the new theory and they include examples to show how the main results can be applied. The Frolicher-Kriegl calculus should provide a new basis for future work in this area, as well as in functional analysis and category theory.
