内容説明

This book places the arguments of the current debate on education into perspective, analyzes the essential issues and proposes a way forward. Warnock outlines the principles underlying education at all levels and argues that there should be a common policy within which providers of education can share essentially common aims. She considers the system of public examinations linking secondary and tertiary education, and looks for a more flexible and informative system than blocks of examinations at 16 and 18. There is a critical review of methods of teacher training and suggests ways in which the status and professionalism of teachers could be enhanced. There are propositions for ways in which higher education could become more adaptable and more highly regarded than it is at present.
