Description and Table of Contents
Description
The development of weather radar and its use in flood forecasting has accelerated in the last few years. Based on a symposium held at the University of Lancaster, the capabilities of weather radar for rainfall measurement and weather forecasting, with emphasis on operational experience in the UK, are examined. Hydrological aspects of flood forecasting and the methods currently used are also discussed. This is extended to specific problems of real-time flood forecasting and the use of weather radar data.
