内容説明

Although this comprehensive review of children's fears and phobias, which covers both normal and clinical aspects, emphasizes the behavioural perspectives, it also considers the psychoanalytic aspects and provides guidelines and practical suggestions for the assessment, treatment and prevention of these phobias. A number of critical issues associated with phobia reduction in children is emphasized; for example, the role of careproviders and the effectiveness of behavioural methods, and it is argued that the principles of behavioural assessment and behavioural methods can be used to prevent children's phobias. The authors strike a balance between a literature review and a practical guidebook for professionals employed in psychological, psychiatric, educational and health care settings. The book suggests a team approach that includes parents and careproviders as partners with the specialists in the prevention and treatment of children's phobias.
