内容説明
This volume focuses on sensory aspects of both the motor and nonmotor functions of the basal ganglia. The individual contributions range from neuroanatomical studies in experimental animals to cognitive functioning in humans. Section 1 deals with the transformation that afferent information undergoes at the striatal level, and with the way in which the integration of sensory and motor signals is achieved within this structure. In Section 2 the authors lend some heuristic strength to the term "sensorimotor integration," and also point out the problems with such a catch-all term. The result is a more meaningful theoretical framework for describing the functions of the basal ganglia. Section 3 deals primarily with the implications of this neural system in cognitive processes.
