内容説明
Industrial and residential construction on fine grained soils having high water content has traditionally required excavation and replacement or the driving of pile foundations to a lower bearing stratum. Both of these alternatives are time consuming and expensive. The current approach (which is the complete focus of this book) is to place a high strength geotextile or geogrid on the ground surface, place a sand drainage layer on it and then surcharge the site with available fill. This surcharge induces excess pore water pressure in the underlying soft foundation soil which eventually consolidates and stabilizes. If the consolidation process is too slow prefabricated vertical drains are placed through the entire system. In essence new ground is economically being made where formerly were swamps, bogs, low lands and other unsuitable building sites. This book consists of a series of invited papers fully describing each aspect of the above process. Included are sections on design, miscellaneous details and construction. Each is written by a known expert in this field. All papers are generously supported by graphs, charts, photographs and tables.
