内容説明

This book is set in the context of sociological debates regarding the dynamics of reproduction in education. Using Irish data, some mechanisms whereby inequalities get reproduced are unveiled. By analyzing detailed evidence (primarily quantitative but also qualitative) on 90 second-level schools evidence substantiating the claims of reproduction theorists is supplied.

目次

  • The hidden curriculum - a reappraisal of reproduction theories
  • knowledge dissemination in second-level schools - a case for universalism
  • the relational context of learning - the universality of competitive individualism and hierarchical control
  • conclusions from research data - with special reference to some particularistic features of schooling
  • reproduction in education - the role of cultural factors, social classes and educational mediators
  • the rise of technical knowledge and competitive individualism in schools - a comment.
