Description
Focusing on the principles of continuous time adaptive systems, this introductory text explores the fundamental concepts in adaptive control systems, with particular emphasis on their stability properties. Starting from basic systems, it develops the theory in stages for adaptive observers and controllers. The first two chapters trace the evolution of the field to its present stage and collect and present the principal results in a stability theory which are used throughout the book. The authors then discuss the fundamental principles of adaptive control and the theory is used to deal with more complex adaptive control problems of interest to research students. The final chapter provides case studies of industrial applications.
