This collection of essays examines the relationship between West Germany and the German Democratic Republic in terms of economics and politics. The problems caused by the division of Germany in relation to European and international defence policies are also discussed. F.Stephen Larrabee formerly served on the US National Security Council as a specialist on Soviet-East European affairs and has written several books on military relations, including "Eastern Europe: A Generational Change" and "Gorbachev and the Soviet Military".
