Description and Table of Contents

Description

Viral Disease is the second of two revised volumes covering recent advances in our understanding of infections of the nervous system. The first was, Microbial Disease, Volume 52(8), viral disease includes information on monoclonal antibody methods, automated amino acid and nucleic acid sequencing methods, in situ nucleic acid hybridization, immunocyto-chemical localization of viral antigens, and synthetic peptide and oligonucleotide methods. This new information has greatly expanded our knowledge of viral pathogenesis and diagnostic methods. Also highlighted are significant developments in immunology, antiviral chemotherapy, and immunomodulant therapy.
