Intended as a standard reference on the detailed provisions of the Education Acts and other statutory provisions as they concern schools, this new edition reflects the changes enacted and proposed - notably the Education Act 1986 and the Education Reform Act 1988. These include the effects on the composition and functions of governing bodies, the curriculum, staff appointments and dismissals, use of school premises, collective worship and admission to schools. It also takes into account the new requirements of the Education Reform Act such as the national curriculum and the new basis of financing and managing schools through formula funding and local delegation.
